Penn State Wrestling Remains At No. 1, Maintains Nine In Top 10 In National Polls

The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 1 in the most recent NWCA coaches poll on Tuesday, securing all but three first-place votes after their 40-7 dismantling of Wyoming on Saturday night. No. 2 Ohio State received the rest as it improved to 8-0 on the season after beating No. 16 North Carolina State 26-10.

As for Intermat’s individual rankings, there is only one change heading into this week for Penn State wrestling.

Cole Mirasola picked up his second straight loss at heavyweight, this time to No. 10 Christian Carroll via a 10-4 decision. The Nittany Lion dropped to No. 13 after being ranked at No. 11 last week.

Luke Lilledahl and Rocco Welsh remain at No. 2 and No. 4 in their respective weight classes, while Shayne Van Ness, Mitchell Mesenbrink, and Levi Haines all remain at their top spots.

Marcus Blaze stuck at No. 10, Aaron Nagao stayed at No. 7, PJ Duke remained at No. 8, and Connor Mirasola maintained his position at No. 8 this week.

The Nittany Lions return to dual action on Saturday, December 20, when Penn State travels to Nashville, Tennessee, to take on North Dakota State and Stanford in the Collegiate Duals event. The matches are due to begin at 5 and 7 p.m. and will be streamed on FloWrestling.
