Penn State Women’s Volleyball’s Kennedy Martin & Gillian Grimes Receive AVCA All-American Honors

Penn State women’s volleyball players Kennedy Martin and Gillian Grimes earned AVCA All-American honors, the team announced Wednesday morning.
Martin was named a First-Team AVCA All-American for the third time in her career, while Grimes received her first AVCA All-American as an honorable mention.
Martin, who transferred from Florida earlier this year, put together a dominant first season with the Nittany Lions. The junior outside hitter racked up a Big Ten-leading 634 kills and recorded at least 20 kills in 17 games this season.
Martin also accumulated 89 total blocks and 48 service aces while appearing in all but one of Penn State’s 32 matches. The junior’s 5.42 kills per set, 728 points, and 6.22 points per set ranked second in the nation.
Grimes was an anchor for Penn State in 2025. The team captain appeared in every match for the fourth straight season. The 5’6″ libero logged 441 digs, 109 assists, and 30 service aces across 121 sets, earning her the title of Big Ten Libero of the Year and solidifying herself as one of the nation’s best passers.
Grimes will now move on to Major League Volleyball, playing for the San Diego Mojo, who drafted her in November.
Penn State has now had back-to-back First-Team AVCA All-Americans, as Jess Mruzik received the accolade in 2024.
