Report: Penn State Football Offensive Lineman Alex Birchmeier Plans To Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State football redshirt-sophomore offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier has officially entered the transfer portal, CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer reported on Friday. He has two years of eligibility left.

Ashburn, Virginia, native did not play in any games during his redshirt season in 2023, but has played in 26 games over the next two seasons. This year, Birchmeier played in 10 games, and in 2024, he played in all 16.

Out of high school, the offensive lineman was a four-star prospect, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He was the No. 1 player in Virginia, the No. 2 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 54 player in the class of 2023.

Birchmeier is the fourth player to enter the transfer portal from Penn State this offseason. He joins Elliot Washington II and Chaz Coleman as Nittany Lions with plans to enter.
