Report: Former Iowa State Linebacker Caleb Bacon Transfers To Penn State Football

Former Iowa State linebacker Caleb Bacon has committed to Penn State football out of the transfer portal, according to On3’s Greg Pickel.
As a high school prospect, Bacon was unranked by the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Lake Mills, Iowa, native walked on at Iowa State and earned a scholarship from Matt Campbell after the 2023 season.
Bacon joins the Nittany Lions after three seasons with the Cyclones, where he racked up 131 total tackles, five pass deflections, six sacks, and two forced fumbles in his career. He led the Iowa State defense with 652 snaps played in 2025.
After losing linebackers Amare Campbell, Kari Jackson, Keon Wylie, and Anthony Specca in the transfer portal, the commitment of Bacon helps replenish the depth of Penn State’s linebacker unit.
