Former Penn State Football Tight End Matt Henderson Transfers To Virginia Tech

Former Penn State football tight end Matt Henderson is transferring to Virginia Tech, he announced Sunday. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

Henderson was a three-star prospect out of Powhatan, Virginia, ranked as the No. 16 tight end in the nation, as well as the No. 7 player from Virginia in the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports composite rankings. He appeared in four games as a true freshman, but did not record a stat, preserving his redshirt.

Henderson was one of four Penn State tight ends to enter the transfer portal, and he will follow former head coach James Franklin down to Blacksburg. Former tight ends coach Ty Howle was also recently hired as the offensive coordinator at Virginia Tech.

He joins Daniel Jennings as the second Penn State player in the transfer portal to officially rejoin James Franklin in Blacksburg.
