Report: Former Penn State Football Defensive End Jaylen Harvey Transfers To North Carolina

Former Penn State football defensive end Jaylen Harvey has committed to transfer to North Carolina, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Harvey was a four-star recruit out of Gaithersburg, Maryland, in the class of 2024. He was ranked as the No. 14 player from Maryland and the No. 32 edge rusher in the nation, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. He chose Penn State over Florida, USC, and Maryland.

He appeared in five games as a true freshman, but maintained his redshirt. His role increased in 2025 after the departure of several Nittany Lion edge rushers, namely Abdul Carter. In 16 career games, he made 10 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, and got his first career sack against Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl before entering the transfer portal.
