Penn State Men’s Hockey Sweeps Big Ten Stars Of The Week

Penn State men’s hockey started the new year off right, earning all three Big Ten Stars of the Week. Senior Jarod Crespo was named the B1G First Star of the Week, with sophomore Charlie Cerrato and junior Aiden Fink earning the second and third stars, respectively.

Crespo secured his first career weekly award after registering a third-period hat trick in a 7-3 victory over RIT on Sunday. Crespo’s hat trick is now the 19th in program history, and just the second-ever defenseman.

Cerrato acquired his second weekly award of the season after tallying two assists and a goal in Sunday’s win. The sophomore’s 18 assists of the season are tied for second in the Big Ten and sixth across the NCAA.

Fink earned his first weekly award this season and sixth of his career. Fink made his return to Pegula Ice Arena this week after an injury kept him out since late October. He registered the opening goal against RIT along with an assist on Crespo’s third goal. He is now also just two points shy of becoming the ninth Nittany Lion to reach 100 points.

Penn State men’s hockey is back at Pegula on Friday, January 9, at 6 p.m., where they face Minnesota.
