Report: Former Penn State Football Director of Player Personnel Kenny Sanders Hired By Notre Dame As Assistant General Manager

Penn State football’s former Director of Player Personnel, Kenny Sanders, is reportedly heading to Notre Dame and will become the team’s assistant general manager, per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Sanders announced he was moving on from Penn State on Tuesday.
Sanders initially joined the program when former head coach James Franklin was hired in 2014 as part of the recruiting staff. After five seasons at Penn State, he was hired as the Director of Recruiting at Oregon in 2019 under former head coach Mario Cristobal, but he returned to Happy Valley prior to the 2021 season and became the Director of Player Personnel a year later.
He was a big part of Penn State’s “DMV” recruiting. Sanders, a graduate of McDonogh School in Maryland, helped bring some of the region’s premier talent to Happy Valley, including McDonogh graduates Dani Dennis-Sutton and PJ Mustipher. A large portion of any given Penn State recruiting class hailed from Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC.
While Matt Campbell looked to retain Sanders on staff, he elected to pursue other opportunities and got a big role at Notre Dame under general manager Mike Martin.
