Report: Former Penn State Football Linebacker Keon Wylie Transfers To Virginia Tech

Former Penn State football linebacker Keon Wylie is transferring to Virginia Tech, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Wylie was a three-star recruit out of Philadelphia in the Class of 2022, being ranked the No. 40 linebacker in the nation and the No. 13 player from Pennsylvania, according to the 247Sports Composite. He committed to Penn State in July 2021, choosing the Nittany Lions over Pittsburgh and Kentucky.

He redshirted in 2022, but still appeared in three games, notably picking up a half-sack in the Rose Bowl. He played more into the linebacker rotation in 2023, making 17 tackles with five tackles for loss and three sacks in 13 games.

Wylie then missed the entire 2024 season due to injury before returning in 2025, playing a larger role after Tony Rojas’ season-ending injury in late September alongside Amare Campbell and Dominic DeLuca. In 29 games in his collegiate career, he had 47 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and a pass defended.

Wylie will be entering his redshirt senior season, but will have an opportunity to apply for a medical redshirt after missing all of 2024. He’s the latest Nittany Lion to follow James Franklin to Blacksburg, joining Ethan Grunkemeyer, Jeff Exinor Jr., Daniel Jennings, and Matt Henderson.
