Penn State Women’s Hockey’s Matilde Fantin Named To 2026 Italian Olympic Team

Penn State women’s hockey freshman forward Matilde Fantin has been named to Italy’s Olympic roster, the team announced on Tuesday morning.

Fantin has totaled eight goals, 10 assists, and 18 points in 21 games this season for the Nittany Lions. Her eight goals lead all freshmen on the team.

She will rejoin the squad after competing at the 2025 IIHF Division 1 B Women’s World Championship, where she led the entire tournament in points, resulting in her promotion to the A team for 2026.

Italy is set to host the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, with the squads’ first game coming against France in the Group B preliminary round on February 5.
