Penn State Men’s Hockey Secures Two Big Ten Stars Of The Week

Penn State men’s hockey earned two of three Big Ten Stars of the Week. Junior Matt DiMarsico was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week, with freshman Gavin McKenna slotting in as the third star.

DiMarsico earned the number one spot after registering four goals — including his third hat trick of the season — during the weekend’s sweep over Notre Dame. With his effort on Friday night, DiMarsico became the first Nittany Lion to register three hat tricks in a single season.

McKenna, who earned the third spot, led the nation in points with five, on two goals and three assists, set a career-high with a three-point game in Saturday’s 6-3 win, all while extending his point-streak to three games.

Penn State men’s hockey will hit the road, headed for Madison, Wisconsin, to face No. 5 Wisconsin in a Big Ten series matchup at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 23.
