Former Penn State Football Offensive Lineman Rasheed Walker Arrested On Gun Charges At LaGuardia Airport

Former Penn State football and current Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Rasheed Walker was arrested on gun charges at LaGuardia Airport on Friday morning.

Walker told a Delta Airlines employee that his bag contained his 9mm Glock pistol in a locked box when he tried to check it, according to the New York Post, citing a criminal complaint. The employee alerted Port Authority Police, who searched Walker’s bag and found the gun with 36 rounds of ammunition.

Walker was taken into custody and charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, according to the New York Post.

Walker’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, said Walker didn’t know he couldn’t travel with the gun in New York and that it’s licensed in Wisconsin.

Walker was released late Friday after a brief court appearance. He’s due back in court on March 19, but Aidala is confident the case will be dismissed.

Walker made 31 starts from 2018 to 2021 for Penn State before being selected No. 249 overall by the Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft.
