Former Penn State Women’s Volleyball Libero Gillian Grimes Signs With LOVB Madison

Former Penn State women’s volleyball libero Gillian Grimes has signed with League One Volleyball Madison, the team announced Wednesday. This comes after she was cut by the San Diego Mojo, the team that drafted her in the second round of the Major League Volleyball draft.

League One Volleyball is the women’s volleyball professional league in the United States that was launched last year. There are currently six teams in the league, including Madison.

Grimes had a historic career with the Nittany Lions, as the libero finished with 1,615 career digs, which is ranked fourth in program history in career digs. She played a key role in the Nittany Lions’ defense on their run to a national championship in 2024.

She was also named the Big Ten Libero of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team in her final season with the blue and white.

LOVB Madison is currently in third place in the LOVB standings, with a 2-2 record. Grimes could make her debut on Friday, January 30, when LOVB Madison takes on LOVB Nebraska.
