Cornerback Deonte Flemings Jr. Commits To Penn State Football

Building for the future.

Class of 2028 cornerback Deonte Flemings Jr. has committed to Penn State football, he announced on social media on Saturday. It’s the Nittany Lions’ first commitment in the 2028 recruiting class.

Hailing from Erie, Pennsylvania, Flemings, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound sophomore, was named to the Class 6A Coaches Select All-State team in 2025, the only player in his district to receive the honor.

He also holds a strong connection with Terry Smith, with both players having ties to the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League. Flemings received his official offer from secondary coach Deon Broomfield and committed to Penn State just over one week later.

Flemings is a versatile athlete who took snaps at both cornerback and quarterback during his 2025 high school campaign. In addition to Penn State, he notably received offers from regional rivals Notre Dame, Pitt, and West Virginia.
