Gavin McKenna’s Hearing Postponed To March In Assault Case

Penn State men’s hockey star Gavin McKenna’s preliminary hearing is now set for March 11, per an email from the Pennsylvania Office of the District Attorney. The hearing was originally set for February 11 but was postponed by a month on Monday.

While the felony aggravated assault charge was dropped on Friday, McKenna still faces a misdemeanor simple assault charge, a harassment charge, and a disorderly conduct charge.

Penn State men’s hockey’s final regular-season game takes place on March 6 against Wisconsin, but the hearing would take place on the first day of the Big Ten Tournament for the Nittany Lions. If the seedings remain the same, that would be against Ohio State in Happy Valley.

March 11 also happens to be in the middle of Penn State’s spring break, when a large part of the student body will be out of town. The hearing will take place at 8:30 a.m.

McKenna was arraigned on February 4, after being charged with following an alleged altercation in downtown State College late Saturday night. The incident occurred along the 100 block of South Pugh Street.
