Penn State Men’s Hockey Remains At No. 6 In USCHO Poll

Penn State men’s hockey stayed at No. 6 in the USCHO men’s hockey rankings after the road trip against No. 2 Michigan, the USCHO announced on Monday.

This is the third week in a row that Penn State is in the No. 6 spot in the USCHO rankings.

The Nittany Lions went to overtime and a shootout against the Wolverines in the first game of the series. Michigan ended up with the extra point in the Big Ten standings. Reese Laubach got the game going for the Nittany Lions, with Jackson Smith scoring twice in the game. He set the single-season defenseman goal record and played his first multi-goal game.

Penn State lost to Michigan 6-3 on Saturday. Laubach scored twice, but it was not enough to continue the push against the Wolverines. Luke Misa scored late in the third period on a pass from Gavin McKenna.

Penn State is third in the Big Ten standings, sitting behind Michigan State and Michigan.

The Nittany Lions return home against Ohio State at 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 20, at Pegula Ice Arena.
