Penn State Softball’s Allison Oneacre Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

Penn State softball infielder Allison Oneacre was named the Big Ten softball Freshman of the Week on Monday after a strong showing in the Houston Invitational over the weekend.

The Alpharetta, Georgia, native hit .583 over the invitational’s five games, and six of her seven hits went for extra bases. Her weekend on-base percentage of 2.450 is the best for any Nittany Lion so far this season.

Oneacre showed off her power during the Houston Invitational, blasting four home runs in five games. In the field, she had five putouts and 11 assists, combining for a perfect fielding percentage. She became the first Penn State softball player to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Bridget Nemeth in 2024.

Oneacre and the Nittany Lions will head to Orlando, Florida, to play in the SpaceU Classic. Their first game is set for 2 p.m. on Friday, February 20, against Charleston Southern. The entire weekend can be streamed on ESPN+.
