[Photo Story] Penn State Women’s Lacrosse Starts Season Strong

Penn State women’s lacrosse has begun its season on a high note, going 3-0 in its first three games and earning the No. 24 rank in the country. Despite a few games in Holuba Hall due to recent cold conditions in State College, the team has not struggled to establish a winning mentality.

Our photographers were there to capture the start of what looks to be an impressive season for the Nittany Lions.

Wednesday, February 11th

The team played its home opener against the Minutewomen of UMass. Despite the unique venue of Holuba Hall, the team found its groove on both sides of the ball, defeating UMass 17-9.

Freshman attacker Rocquette Allen scored an impressive five goals in her second-ever collegiate game. Junior attacker Kelly MacKinney also notched a hat trick, scoring three goals.

Sunday, February 15th

The Nittany Lions, looking to remain undefeated, faced off against Bucknell once again at Holuba Hall. Penn State could not be stopped offensively in this game, scoring eight goals in the first quarter and six in the second.

Penn State won the game 21-9, securing its third win of the young season. The Nittany Lions had an impressive 12 players score goals in this game, led by Allen and junior midfielder Maddie Grecco, who scored five and three, respectively.

The Nittany Lions look to remain undefeated, with their next game coming against the Pittsburgh Panthers on Wednesday, February 18, at 5 p.m.
