Brainstorming Alternate Basketball Court Designs To Light Up The Bryce Jordan Center

The Big Twelve conference recently unveiled plans to host its men’s and women’s basketball tournaments on an advanced glass court. The floor will be equipped with embedded LED technology, enabling dynamic data displays, digital advertising, and interactive fan experiences during timeouts. With March Madness around the corner, we came up with a few Penn State floor designs that would light up the Bryce Jordan Center with this technology.

Pennsylvania Roots Court

This court represents the agricultural working class that thrives in the state of Pennsylvania. It pays tribute to the farmers and rural communities that are such a vital part of the state’s identity. The soft brown tones blending into the hardwood create a warm, earthy atmosphere that reflects the nature surrounding State College.

USA Country Theme Presented By Pickles

It’s a classic Pickles Tuesday country night at the BJC. The waving flag seeping through the hardwood provides a patriotic touch to the game. As it ripples through the court, the flag creates a powerful visual effect that blends school spirit with national pride. With classic country blasting throughout the game, it would be a great tradition and collaboration with Pickles.

Penn State Creamery Court

The Berkey Creamery is an iconic staple of our campus. Known for its rich tradition and vibrant flavors that bring students and alumni together, translating the energy onto a basketball court would create a fun atmosphere. These bright tones against the polished hardwood would create contrast that energizes both players and fans. Just like a trip to the Creamery brings excitement and nostalgia, a Berkey-inspired court would give the arena a joyful, spirited atmosphere.

Penn State Stripe Out Court

An iconic staple of our football team, so why not bring the idea to the basketball court? This is a simple yet elegant design that also gets fans involved. The stripes going diagonally across the court create depth and visual momentum, like the pace and intensity of basketball. At the same time, the blue and white color scheme reinforces school pride and unity. The bold difference between the two colors makes the court stand out while still feeling clean and classic.

Penn State Whiteout Court

The classic Penn State White Out. Inspired by the energy of the Beaver Stadium game, the court would create an electric and unforgettable atmosphere. The bright white hardwood would immediately stand out, symbolizing the unity and intensity that define a White Out night. Incorporating subtle white fireworks graphics bursting across the court would add movement and celebration to the design. The 107k in the corners represent the proud 107k fans that pack out the White Out game every year.

Penn State Pink & Black Original

Many people in the country are unaware of Penn State’s traditional colors of pink and black. This tradition is one that many fans and students want the athletic teams to be more proud of. The pink contrasting against the gray and black creates a beautiful design. The outline of Old Main towering through the halfway line provides depth to the court. The year the university was founded in the corner brings a story and tradition to the BJC.

Coal Traditional Court

The hardwood features a bold gray outline of Old Main stretching across the floor, symbolizing the university’s historic foundation. At center court, the retro Nittany Lion logo stands prominently, bringing back a classic that fans instantly recognize. A sharp black outline around the key elements would add depth and intensity, giving the design a gritty edge. The gray touches on the court would pay homage to Pennsylvania’s coal workers, honoring the state’s roots and the hardworking spirit that defines both the State and Penn State athletics.
