My Hero Zero Delivers Y2K-Focused Performance At THON 2026

My Hero Zero took the Bryce Jordan Center stage early Saturday morning to perform during THON 2026’s Y2K theme hour.
The East Coast band kicked off its set with a cover of “Everytime We Touch” by Cascada. The song concluded with a barrage of airhorns and the iconic Nittany Lion roar, setting the tone for the early morning.
Next up was a punk-rock rendition of “My House” by Flo Rida, which was certainly interesting.
Then the vocal duo of Jason Olcese and Eric Damiano performed Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated.”
The early 2000’s bangers continued with “Fireflies” by Owl City.
Unfortunately, Olcese’s microphone malfunctioned soon after, leaving the crowd with a lovely yet awkward instrumental of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift.
“Eenie Meenie” by Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber drew screams from the crowd.
After that, My Hero Zero played “Hello” by Martin Solveig & Dragonette, smoothly transitioning into “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction with electric synths sprinkled in. The group’s selection of hits got the crowd jumping, even at the early hours of 8 a.m.
Then, the BJC crowd erupted to the opening notes of “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, a classic Penn State anthem.
After cranking up the energy, the band slowed it down with Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning, putting a figurative spotlight on their drummer, Joe, who opened it with a drum solo.
Damiano returned to the front of the stage to sing a trio of bangers, “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas, “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” by Usher, and “Titanium” by David Guetta & Sia.
Olcese tagged back in for Usher and will.i.am’s “OMG,” before switching to “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift.
The duo reunited for “All Of The Lights” by Kanye West.
It wouldn’t be a Y2K-themed performance without Bruno Mars, so, of course, Damiano locked in on the vocals for “Locked Out Of Heaven.”
Olcese addressed the crowd, saying, “If you’re feeling good, can I hear a ‘Woo’?” Then, he dove into another THON anthem, “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay. Roman cavalry choirs weren’t the only ones singing, as the BJC howled along with the band.
My Hero Zero kept the Y2K theme hour going with “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson and ‘Firework” by Katy Perry.
Joe, the drummer, broke out the drumline, as the vocal duo began an “O, let’s go State!” chant, before Olcese whipped out a trumpet for the “P-S-U, Let’s go PSU!” chant, which, to no surprise, peaked the crowd’s engagement.
My Hero Zero kept it going with “Live Your Life” by T.I. & Rihanna and “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled.
To close, Olcese brought out a guitar for “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls, which prompted the entire floor to lock arms and sway side to side. The final chorus was performed a cappella, with the BJC’s voices leading the way. It was a touching moment that capped off a great performance.
