Winter Weather Watch Issued For State College Area During THON

Update, 11:14 p.m.:

The National Weather Service has updated it to a Winter Storm Warning from 1 a.m. Sunday through 1 p.m. Monday. Four-nine inches of snow are now expected.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch Saturday afternoon for the central Pennsylvania area. The watch will remain in effect from late Saturday night through Monday afternoon.

In a release, the NWS said that heavy snow is possible with total accumulations expected to be between three to eight inches. Wind gusts could be as high as 40 mph.

The authorities says conditions could affect travel through Monday afternoon and lead to unsafe road conditions in some places. Drivers are instructed to exercise caution if they experience adverse conditions and pull over if travel feels unsafe.
