State College Police Department Releases Annual State Patty’s Warning

The State College Police Department released its annual warning regarding the upcoming festivities for State Patty’s. This is a weekend known for “more crime, more criminal arrests, and more alcohol overdoses than a typical winter weekend.”
State Patty’s will take place this upcoming weekend, a week ahead of Penn State Students’ spring break. Occurring every year on the weekend after THON, many students look forward to letting loose and enjoying themselves, maybe a little too much. The State College Police Department mentions, “We had many problems with the number and severity of alcohol violations, noise complaints, vandalism, and fights in apartment buildings.”
The police department has provided a list of things residents can do to help keep the weekend safe. This includes limiting guests in your apartment, keeping any music or noise at reasonable levels, not permitting anybody under 21 years of age to drink, and preventing guests from yelling or throwing things.
It should be known that the State College Police Department plans on assertively patrolling State College for violations of the law. There will be extra enforcement on apartment buildings, specifically, as well as rentals. For all Penn State students charged with any criminal violation, such as a noise violation, disorderly conduct, underage drinking, or public drunkenness, they will provide the information to Penn State’s Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response (OSACR).
The State College Police are advising all students to read this warning and understand the consequences of breaking the law during State Patty’s. The department is sharing these rules and expectations in the hope that residents will “refrain from engaging in behaviors that violate the law or University policy.”
