The Ultimate Recovery Guide For State Patty’s Weekend

It’s officially the start of State Patty’s weekend, folks!
When the weekend of shenanigans, jigs, and way too much drinking comes to an end, one thing won’t fail to linger: a hangover. Pounding headaches, sleep deprivation, and some vomiting might hit you the morning after (or the night of), and all of a sudden you are regretting listening to the friend that says “Just one more!”
Before you go running to Google for some help or sulking in your bed all day, we crafted up the ultimate guide to your post-State Patty’s drinking extravaganza.
Rehydrate
Now, this may be the obvious answer, but drink some water. Your body is begging for some hydration after all of the alcohol, cheap vodka, and sugary sodas, so take a stroll to the fridge and fill up a glass. Want something a little more fun to quench your thirst? Grab a Gatorade, some LiquidIV, or some Electrolit. The sodium in the electrolytes helps the body retain water, which is more effective for rehydration than just water alone.
Eat Something Solid
Your stomach might be sending some questionable signals, but eating some real food is a non-negotiable. Doctors say that the best foods that stabilize blood sugar during a hangover are eggs, bananas, toast, oatmeal, and broth. Try to avoid greasy foods, even if some McDonald’s or Taco Bell sounds like it would do the trick.
Sleep It Off
My personal favorite remedy. Sleep.
State Patty’s tends to be a three-day, back-to-back weekend, and since most parties are during the day, it may be hard to get a good night’s rest. When you are feeling a bit hungover, lie in bed, bundle up in some blankets, put on a good show, and try to nap.
Do Some Slight Movement
“Slight movement” doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym or running a marathon; try taking a few steps, even if it’s around the apartment, or stretching a little bit from the comfort of your own bed. It can help improve circulation and reduce headaches or body stiffness.
Take A Shower
A cool or lukewarm shower can do wonders for making you feel well again. Wash your hair, clean your face, and put on a face mask if you’re feeling extra fancy. Simple, but effective.
Don’t Look At Last Night’s Texts
Hangxiety might be worse than the physical side effects of a hangover. Coming from someone very familiar with hangxiety, don’t read your texts, check your call logs, or even ask your friends if you did anything embarrassing. The fewer the awkward reminders, the better.
