Penn State baseball has never filled its seats up as other sports have. However, I think there are a few ways to entice fans into Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Baseball teams across the nation offer so many promotions, such as bobblehead nights or free hats, and everyone knows and loves Penn State’s Dollar Dog Night (though it’s yet to be announced for the 2026 season), but the marketing team is still leaving some stones unturned.

As someone who’s been to my fair share of baseball games, I know what gets the people going.

Two-Dollar Beer Night

The only reason I didn’t make it One-Dollar Beer Night is that rumor has it Penn State baseball will have a Two-Dollar Beer Night. There is almost nothing more inviting to college students at one of the biggest drinking schools in America than cheap beer. The only way this gets better is if it’s free beer or if it’s the same night as Dollar Dog Night.

Neeli Bendapudi Bobblehead Night

Bobbleheads are a staple of baseball giveaways, and few Penn State icons would sell better than Neeli Bendapudi. I would guarantee Medlar sells out for Bendapudi Bobblehead Night — so much so that she could give herself another raise, or make the game a student ticket raffle and give half the tickets to Altoona students instead.

Nice Weather

It may be out of the marketing department’s hands, but I’ve seen the baseball stadium packed out just because it was 60° and sunny. Early forecasts indicate spring has arrived, so I expect to see a crowd for Penn State baseball on those nice days.

Two-Dollar Taco Tuesday

In the off-chance they discontinue Dollar Dog Night on Tuesdays, I think Taco Tuesday is a solid alternative, and perhaps more cost-effective. Tacos at a baseball game may be pushing it, but it’s interesting enough and, more importantly, cheap enough to allure college students.

NRFI For Free Dining Hall Pass

We’ve all seen videos of fans going nuts when a basketball player misses both free throws and fans win free Chick-fil-A. I’d like to propose a baseball alternative: No Run First Inning (NRFI) for Free Dining Hall Pass. If you attend the game and both teams fail to score a run in the first inning, congrats! You just got free dinner.

The only reason this doesn’t happen is that NRFIs happen all the time, and Penn State would go bankrupt, but who cares? What are they going to do? Raise tuition again? They’re already doing it anyway.

White Out

All the other major teams get a White Out game, why shouldn’t baseball? The Nittany Lions host West Virginia in late April for a night game, so let’s give all fans a white rally towel and let them rally the squad against one of the best teams college baseball has to offer. Just rebrand the “Wear White” game. There’s literally no reason to not call it a White Out.
