55 Days Of Café To Kickoff March 16

55 Days of Café is officially making its return, and Penn State students can once again test their endurance, commitment, and digestive systems.

The annual challenge kicks off at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16, at Café 210 West.

The rules remain simple in theory: Participants must make a food or drink purchase at Café every day for 55 straight days. Those who complete the full run earn a spot on the bar’s plaque and an invite to an exclusive celebration. For many, that party is the light at the end of a very long and intoxicating tunnel.

Café launched the challenge in 2008. After a three‑year break during the COVID‑19 pandemic, it returned in 2022 and has quickly reclaimed its place as one of State College’s most beloved spring traditions.

Each “day” is defined by Café’s hours of operation: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. on Sundays. To get credit, participants must check in with a bouncer and show a receipt. Keeping every receipt is strongly encouraged unless you enjoy that type of unnecessary panic in your life.

Those traveling out of town during the 55 days shouldn’t be discouraged. Up to three times, participants can submit receipts from bars or restaurants outside Centre County. Those receipts must include food or drink purchases and be emailed to Café within three days of absence. Sheetz and Wawa made‑to‑order items count, but packaged snacks, grocery store items, and gas‑station buys do not.

Good luck to everyone brave enough to take on the challenge. May your timing be precise, and your liver forgiving.
