Centre LGBT+ To Host Inaugural Pride 5K

Centre LGBT+ will host its first Pride-themed 5K run and walk this spring, marking the debut of the Pride 5K: Love on Display.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, beginning at the State College Municipal Building. Community members of all ages and experience levels are invited to participate, and organizers encourage runners and walkers to wear colorful, creative Pride-themed attire.

“Pride 5K: Love on Display is more than a race,” Ian Hill, executive assistant at Centre LGBT+, said in a statement. “It’s an opportunity for our community to show up, stand proud, and visibly support LGBT+ individuals and families across Centre County.”

Falcon Race Timing will provide professional timing services. Awards will be given to the top three overall finishers, along with a separate award for Best Pride Gear.

Registration is open online. An early-bird rate of $25 is available through May 15, after which the price increases to $30. Same-day registration will not be offered, and all participants must register in advance.

Proceeds from the race will support Centre LGBT+ programs, including education, advocacy, direct aid, and community-building initiatives throughout the region.

The event takes place one day before the start of Pride Month. Centre LGBT+ will host the annual State College Pride celebration on June 13, beginning with a parade at 10 a.m., followed by a festival.
