Penn State Men’s Hockey Drops To No. 10 In USCHO Poll

After being swept by Wisconsin on home ice, Penn State has dipped to its lowest ranking of the year. The team fell four spots to No. 10 in the latest USCHO poll released on Monday.
Elsewhere in the poll, Michigan held its position atop college hockey, with Big Ten foe Michigan State slotting in at No. 3. The Spartans flipped spots with North Dakota, who now represents the No. 2 team in the land.
Aside from Providence holding still at No. 5, there was lots of movement within the top-10 this week. Denver and Quinnipiac jumped to No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, in the wake of the Nittany Lions’ losses. Minnesota Duluth and Cornell also swapped places, with the Bulldogs coming it at No. 8 and Big Red at No. 9.
Despite being swept by the Badgers, Penn State sits just ahead of No. 11 Wisconsin. Union stands alone as the only new team in the poll, rising to No. 20.
The blue and white will aim to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a victory in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday. They will take on Minnesota at Pegula Ice Arena, with puck drop slated for 7 p.m.
