Report: Former Penn State Football Punter Jordan Stout To Sign With New York Giants, Become Highest-Paid Punter In NFL History

Former Penn State football punter Jordan Stout agreed to terms with the New York Giants on Monday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He cannot officially sign the contract until Wednesday.
Stout’s deal, coming in at three years and $12.3 million, will make him the highest-paid punter in NFL history, surpassing the previous average annual value record of $4.05 million set by Michael Dickson of the Seattle Seahawks.
Stout was a Swiss Army Knife for Penn State after transferring to Happy Valley for the 2019 season after two years at Virginia Tech. He was initially the team’s kickoff specialist and designated long field-goal kicker, nailing a pair of long kicks, including a school-record 57-yarder against Pittsburgh in September.
Following Blake Gillikin’s graduation, Stout took over punting duties in 2020 while continuing to be the kickoff specialist and handling long field goals. His magnum opus would be in 2021, where he took over a vast majority of all kicking duties and started. He was named a Second-Team All-American by several outlets and was a consensus pick as First-Team All-Big Ten, averaging 45.9 yards per punt while also making 16 field goals.
Following the 2021 season, he was selected in the fourth round by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2022 NFL Draft, becoming the first Penn State punter to be picked earlier than the fifth round. In four seasons with the Ravens, he averaged 47.5 yards per punt while routinely pinning over 40% of his kicks inside the 20-yard line. He was named a Pro Bowler and First-Team All-Pro in 2025 and now reunites with his former head coach, John Harbaugh, in New York.
