[Photo Story] Malcolm Todd Rocks The Bryce Jordan Center

On Tuesday, March 24, singer Malcolm Todd headlined the Student Programming Association (SPA) produced show hosted at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College. The performance drew large crowds of dedicated fans from all across the region, with some fans waiting outside the BJC for more than ten hours.

The show began with the opening act, Laundry Day, an alternative/indie band from New York City. Lead singer Jude Ciulla-Lipkin sang some of the band’s well-known songs, such as “Supermodel,” “Friends,” and “Jane.”

After Laundry Days’ exceptional performance, it was time for Todd to perform. The L.A. native came on stage to an excited and energetic crowd, ready to perform. The show opened with Todd performing “Earrings” and “4Me 4Me” off his debut album, “Sweet Boy.”

With an incredibly lively crowd, Todd began a “We Are” chant, cultivating the entire arena to join him. While talking to the crowd for a short bit and discussing how performing on a college campus was special since he never attended college, he then announced that he is working on a new album, garnering lots of cheering from the crowd.

Todd then performed songs off of his most recent album, his self-titled project “Malcolm Todd”. He performed songs off this album like “Bleed,” “Concrete,” and “Walk to Class,” as well as his hit song “Sweet Boy.”

He then performed his new single “Breathe” for the first time in front of a live audience. Towards the end of the show, he performed his most popular song, “Chest Pain,” which just achieved platinum certification for selling more than a million copies in the United States.

After “Chest Pain,” Todd left the stage with the show seemingly over. After a minute, however, he came back on stage to perform one last song to end the night. To close out the show, he performed “Roommates,” encouraging the crowd to sing the final chorus of the song.
