SPA & Opulence To Host Free Drag Show April 4

Penn State’s Student Programming Association (SPA) and Opulence are partnering to bring Bianca Del Rio and Alyssa Edwards on Saturday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the HUB’s Alumni Hall.

Del Rio is an award-winning drag queen and comedian. She has starred in multiple feature films, including “Hurricane Bianca” and “Hurricane Bianca 2: From Russia with Hate.” Del Rio has gone on multiple worldwide comedy tours and was the first drag queen to headline Carnegie Hall and Wembley Arena.

Del Rio was cemented into pop culture after winning “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season six in 2014, when thousands were exposed to her hilarious and witty nature for the first time.

The co-host of the event is Alyssa Edwards, a fierce drag performer and choreographer. Edwards competed in “RuPaul’s Drag Race” a season before Del Rio and became a personality fans adored. Edwards returned in several seasons of the show, ultimately earning a win on “RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars” in 2024.

Opulence is the premier Drag Ambassadors Club on campus and has hosted numerous drag shows.

Tickets to the event are free through SPA and will be available on March 30 at 7 p.m. through SPA’s Instagram here.
