Looking At Potential Penn State Hoops Portal Targets

Penn State men’s basketball has had six players enter the transfer portal so far this year, including star guard Kayden Mingo.
The Nittany Lions need to find replacements this offseason to reshape their team. Last season, they finished last in the Big Ten. Looking ahead, the team is hoping to improve with a revamped roster.
Here are some players who could be great targets for the Nittany Lions:
Zoom Diallo
With two years of eligibility remaining, the point guard from Washington is looking for a new home.
Zoom Diallo has a great ability to read the court. He’s explosive on drives and has the potential to take on a leadership role for the Nittany Lions. Diallo’s size also gives him an advantage, allowing him to play with an aggressive style.
He averaged 15.7 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 48.9% from the field. He played every regular-season game for the Huskies last season and had a season-high 26 points against USC.
His reliability in mid-range shots and dominance in scoring could be valuable for Penn State.
Neoklis Avdalas
The freshman from Virginia Tech, originally from Greece, recently entered the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.
At 6’9″, the shooting guard brings a diverse set of skills not only in shooting, but in the paint as well. Neoklis Avdalas is a dual threat on the court and was a huge playmaker for Virginia Tech in his first year.
He averaged 12.1 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 38.6% from the field. He played a key role for the Hokies, participating in 31 of 33 games and recording a season-high 33 points in only his second collegiate game against Providence.
Avdalas’s impressive skill set could help Penn State secure a true playmaker for next season.
Terrence Hill
The guard from VCU recently gained attention this season and entered the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
During the 2026 NCAA Tournament, Terrence Hill led No. 11 VCU to an overtime upset over No. 6 UNC, delivering a standout performance on college basketball’s biggest stage. He scored 34 points in the win, which also marked his season high.
He averaged 15 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 46.6% from the field. He played almost every game for the Rams, playing a key role in helping the team reach March Madness.
Hill’s elite scoring abilities and delivery when it matters most could benefit Penn State as it navigates a strong conference schedule.
Alex Wilkins
Alex Wilkins is coming off a monster season at Furman, where he earned Southern Conference Tournament MVP honors and was named to the Second Team All-Southern Conference. He entered the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.
Wilkins averaged 17.8 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting 46% from the field. He helped Furman make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, although the team lost to UConn in the first round.
The 6’5″ guard could become a star for Penn State with his competitive edge and scoring ability.
Tomislav Buljan
While only having one year of eligibility remaining, Tomislav Buljan could be a great fill-in for Penn State.
Buljan has only played one year of college basketball, spending his freshman season at New Mexico. He averaged 13.1 points, 1.5 assists, and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field. He played a huge role for the Lobos this year and was heavily involved with the offense.
With a forward spot available, Buljan could be a great pick-up for the Nittany Lions, giving the team a very dominant rebounder and consistent scorer.
With several Penn State players entering the transfer portal, the team needs to identify replacements. Many key role players and playmakers are available, and with the departure of star talent, the Nittany Lions have an opportunity to reshape their roster and build a new core for the future.
