Best Ways To Keep Yourself Entertained While Doing Cardio At Penn State Gyms

It all started with a trending YikYak.

A student was fully locked in on Fortnite while on the treadmill at the White Building. It was the kind of moment that proves cardio is so unbearable that we’ll do just about anything to distract ourselves from it.
If you want to start hitting the gym before summer, here are the best ways to keep yourself entertained while doing cardio at the Penn State gyms.
Solitaire
A treadmill classic. Solitaire is the one game that is pre-downloaded onto basically any treadmill screen. You start casually, then within minutes, you’re fully locked in. It’s slow enough to keep up with while walking, but just engaging enough to distract you from the real reason you are at the gym.
Watch Prime Penn State Football Highlights
The best way to do this is to genuinely believe you’re in the game.
Notice how we said “prime” football highlights. If you throw on anything from this past season, there is a real chance you’ll just hit stop, get off the treadmill, and call it a day.
Stalk People On Instagram You Haven’t Talked To Since Freshman Year
Ever wonder what your freshman year neighbor is up to? Maybe that one person in your English 15 class? This is the perfect opportunity to scroll 100 weeks deep in someone’s Instagram profile. Just be careful not to lose your balance, like a post from years ago.
Try Building Your Schedule On LionPATH
If cardio alone isn’t enough to raise your heart rate, LionPATH will do the job. There is nothing more stressful than realizing every class is full, at 8 a.m., or overlaps with something else. This can keep you on your machine for a while because it is almost guaranteed you still won’t be done scheduling by the time you’re done with your cardio.
Pretend You’re In A Music Video
Put on your headphones, pick a dramatic song, and suddenly your treadmill has just turned into a runway, rainy street, or a slow-motion edit. Bonus points if it’s raining and you occasionally stare out the window. It doesn’t make the workout any easier, but definitely more cinematic.
