Report: Vermont Defenseman Caeden Herrington Transfering To Penn State Men’s Hockey

In the wake of opening the transfer portal, Penn State men’s hockey has landed a commitment from former Vermont defenseman Caeden Herrington, sources announced on Monday.
Herrington entered the transfer portal after Vermont’s season came to a close following a loss to Boston University in the Hockey East quarterfinals. The Manchester, Vermont, native was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2025 NHL Draft.
The rising sophomore recorded one goal and seven assists in 34 games during his freshman season. Prior to Vermont, Herrington played in the USHL with the Lincoln Stars, where he put up 34 points in 56 games during the 2024-25 season.
Herrington joins Penn State as a 6’2″, right-shot defenseman with offensive upside, adding to Penn State’s young blue line. His commitment helps fill the hole left by defenseman Cade Christenson, who entered the transfer portal earlier Monday.
