Former Penn State Football Player To Host Debate On NIL April 16

The age-old question of “Should college athletes be paid?” may finally get an answer as former Penn State football player Landon Tengwall is moderating a debate between two experts on the topic of name, image, and likeness.

The debate, set for Thursday, April 16, at 3:05 p.m. in 112 Chambers Building, is between “The Philosopher” Dr. Scott R. Kretchmer, Penn State’s NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative from 2000-2010, and “The Historian” Dr. Ronald Smith, an author of nine books on intercollegiate athletics and retired professor of exercise and sport science at Penn State.

Both experts have been awarded Emeritus Professor status at Penn State.

The event will be free to attend and is sponsored by Penn State’s Department of Kinesiology.
