Report: Devonte Ross Signs With Los Angeles Chargers As Undrafted Free Agent

Former Penn State football wide receiver Devonte Ross is signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent, per Jordan Schultz.

Ross spent one year in Happy Valley, playing in 11 games for the Nittany Lions in 2025. He recorded 36 receptions, 501 yards, and five touchdowns while also returning eight punts.

Before transferring to Penn State, Ross played three years at Troy. His freshman and sophomore seasons were solid but had limited production. However, in his junior year as a Trojan, he exceeded expectations with 76 catches, 1,043 yards, and 11 touchdowns, including a big performance against Iowa that influenced his transfer to the Big Ten.

The one-year starter showed he can be a serious deep threat and has solid speed to complement that. He ran a 4.45 40-yard dash, which was the fastest at Penn State’s Pro Day.

Ross is the first Nittany Lion to pick up an undrafted free agent contract after seven Nittany Lions heard their names called off the board in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
