What’s Something Unique That Should Be Added Downtown?

Downtown State College has many bars, restaurants, and various places to live. While all these sites make downtown whole, a few additions could make State College even more exciting.

Onward State compiled cool and unique additions we think would make State College a more diverse environment.

Bowling Alley

A bowling alley downtown could be a hub for students. It’s a fun, social activity that people can get together for a nice break from school.

Bowling could also become a recreational sport or a club for Penn State, which would attract many incoming students to the community.

Escape Room

An escape room would be another great social activity for students. For anyone interested in getting a team together to solve puzzles, you would definitely have fun with this collaboration task.

Escape rooms could be another great attraction for students who want to go out and participate in a fun activity.

Flower Shop

While State College has floral shops, a store dedicated to selling flowers and plants would be great. Instead of waiting for the farmers’ market to come, people could be able to pick up nice flowers and plants for their homes or others.

A flower shop could take the burden of having to go to a grocery store or travel far to get nice plants.

Street Market

State College does have a farmers’ market, and they have outdoor food spots. But I think a street dedicated to these vendors would be a better attraction.

If there could be an area where all outdoor food vendors could come together, it would make for a more noticeable food district in State College that people can explore.

Indoor Mini-Golf

Many people loved playing mini-golf as a kid, and I think it’s a great nostalgic pick to add downtown. Students can step up their putt-putt game with their friends.

Not only could this be a mini-golf place, but other additions like golf simulators and food options inside would be a great attraction.
