Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Rises To No. 7 In Latest Inside Lacrosse Poll

Penn State men’s lacrosse moved up eight places in the recent Inside Lacrosse Poll.

The Nittany Lions traveled to New Jersey to play then-ranked No. 10 Maryland and No. 7 Johns Hopkins in the Big Ten Tournament.

In the game against Maryland, Penn State had a slow start. The team suffered its biggest first-quarter scoring drought all season, but it remained in control on both sides of the ball.

The defense only allowed six goals, and the offense scored five goals in the second half. Hunter Aquino led the way with three goals despite recently coming off an injury.

Against Johns Hopkins, Penn State was dominant and scored 16 goals against the No. 1 team in the Big Ten. Kyle Lehman led the team with three goals, but 11 total players scored for Penn State on Saturday. The defense once again let up fewer than 10 goals.

Since Penn State won the Big Ten Championship and beat two top-10 teams, it moved up eight places in the rankings. The Nittany Lions earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament and have home-field advantage in round one.

Penn State plays next against Army at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Panzer Stadium.
