Penn State Baseball Announces Major Schedule Adjustment For Home Series Against Washington

Penn State baseball’s upcoming weekend series against Washington at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is undergoing considerable change, the team announced Thursday.
The originally scheduled Friday opener on May 8 is being moved up from 5:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate a traditional doubleheader, similar to the one that occurred last Saturday against Minnesota. The game originally scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. is being moved to the nightcap on Friday. The team’s two top starting pitchers, Colin Fitzgerald and Ben Hudson, are still scheduled to start on Friday.
Game One of the doubleheader will also feature a special appearance by legendary Penn State men’s volleyball coach Mark Pavlik, who will be throwing out the first pitch.
The third and final game of the series, which will be Senior Day for the Nittany Lions, is currently to be determined and will occur either on Saturday or Sunday. Rain is scheduled to make for a gloomy Saturday in Happy Valley, but Washington’s travel plans would necessitate any Sunday start to come extremely early, so the most likely outcome at this point appears to be a morning series finale on Sunday.
Penn State enters the series 13-31 with a 6-18 record in Big Ten play, while the visiting Washington Huskies are 21-27 and 10-14 in Big Ten play.
