The greatest show in college sports is back.

USC will play Penn State on October 10 in 2026’s edition of the White Out game, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon.

For the third year in a row, a former Pac-12 opponent will make the trek across the country to take on the Nittany Lions in front of monochromatic mayhem.

The Nittany Lions are 13-8 in official White Out games since the tradition began in 2004, with notable wins against No. 2 Ohio State in 2016 and No. 18 Michigan in 2013. Last season’s game featured a 30-24 double-overtime loss to Oregon that derailed Penn State’s highly-anticipated 2025 season.

New head coach of the Nittany Lions, Matt Campbell, will experience his first White Out six games into the season, and after two Big Ten opponents. He and Penn State will have an extra day to prepare after facing Northwestern on Friday, October 2.

Campbell’s former school, Iowa State, did not have anything that compared to the spectacle that is the White Out, but they did host unofficial blackout games. Campbell helped his team to a few big upsets in those games, including against No. 6 West Virginia in 2018 and No. 20 Oklahoma in 2020.

USC and Penn State have faced off 11 times in their history, with the Trojans owning six victories over the blue and white. The last time these two teams faced off, the Nittany Lions got the best of the cardinal and gold, winning 33-30 in comeback fashion.

The matchup will also mark the first time the Trojans have visited Beaver Stadium since 1994, when Penn State won by a score of 38-14.

USC is coming off a 9-4 season and a heartbreaking Alamo Bowl loss to TCU. Junior Makai Lemon was awarded the Biletnikoff Award for being the top wide receiver in the country following a 1,156-yard campaign.

Kickoff time is set for 7:30 p.m. on NBC.
