Defenseman Charlie Michaud Commits To Penn State Men’s Hockey

Former Miami (Ohio) and Penticton Vees defenseman Charlie Michaud has committed to Penn State men’s hockey, per College Puck NXT on X.

Michaud, a 19-year-old from Denver, Colorado, stands 6’0″ and 195 pounds. He spent the beginning of the season at Miami (Ohio), appearing in six NCAA games before departing college hockey for the Penticton Vees of the WHL in December.

Michaud was one of the only players to leave the NCAA for Canadian juniors following the eligibility rule changes that have seen most players move in the opposite direction (CHL to NCAA).

After joining Penticton, Michaud recorded 15 assists in 35 regular-season games while helping the expansion franchise reach the WHL Western Conference Final.

He added five points in 15 playoff games during Penticton’s playoff run. Michaud’s lone goal with the Vees came in overtime of Game 1 of the first round against the Seattle Thunderbirds, securing the first WHL playoff win in franchise history before the Vees eventually fell to the Everett Silvertips in the conference final.

Before beginning his college career at Miami (Ohio), Michaud spent two seasons in the USHL with the Madison Capitals, where he totaled 27 assists in 61 games during the 2023-24 season.
