Penn State Women’s Hockey To Play in D1 In DC Tournament Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Penn State women’s hockey will play in the D1 in DC tournament during Thanksgiving weekend at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia, as part of their 2026-27 non-conference schedule, per the tournament’s official website.

The Nittany Lions are currently penciled into two high-profile matchups. In the late game of a Black Friday doubleheader, they’ll battle Hockey East’s Boston College at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 27, to open the tournament.

The second and final game for the Nittany Lions will be against WCHA powerhouse Minnesota, taking place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 28. Also participating in the tournament, but not playing Penn State, is NCAA Tournament qualifier Princeton.

The tournament, hosted by the Washington Pride of the Junior Women’s Hockey League (JWHL), is the sixth edition of the women’s hockey invitational played in the D.C. area. It began in January 2017 with a clash between St. Lawrence and Mercyhurst, then became a multi-team tournament the following season.

It’s the second time the Nittany Lions have participated in their brief history, previously going 1-1 in the 2021 edition, beating Minnesota-Duluth and losing to Ohio State.
