Penn State Wrestling’s Masanosuke Ono To Make Real American Freestyle Debut At RAF 12

Penn State wrestling’s Masanosuke Ono will make his Real American Freestyle debut at RAF 12 against Ben Davino on Saturday, August 22, in Cleveland, Ohio, as announced on Friday.
Ono, a 2024 World Champion freestyler at 61 kilograms, officially joined Penn State wrestling last summer and redshirted the first year of his truncated eligibility in 2025-26, while sitting out of all freestyle competition in both America and overseas due to a kidney issue.
He’ll face Davino, who’s wrestling out of the Ohio Regional Training Center. While a good freestyle wrestler in his own right, Davino is better known for his incredible freshman year at Ohio State, where he finished runner-up at the 2026 NCAA Championships at 133 pounds to Oklahoma State’s Jax Forrest. His three-match rivalry with Penn State’s own Marcus Blaze was a highlight of the entire season.
The Ono/Davino bout, which will be contested at bantamweight, is the latest undercard match for what is figuring to be a stacked card at Rocket Arena next month. Penn State wrestling legend and UFC middleweight Bo Nickal is scheduled to fight Minnesota national champion Max McEnelly, while the main event will be between Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs and UFC welterweight Sean Brady.
