Canadian Forward Sydney McIntosh Commits To Penn State Women’s Hockey

Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna forward Sydney McIntosh has committed to Penn State women’s hockey, the team announced on Monday.

She had 39 points on 13 goals and 26 assists last season.

According to the X post, McIntosh will join the Nittany Lions for the 2026-27 season.

Last year, though, the Langley, British Columbia, native played in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. She also represented her province in the National Women’s Under-18 Championship, scoring once in five games.

The 5-foot-4 lefty will join a Nittany Lion team fresh off their best season to date. Penn State made the Frozen Four and competed at home, but lost 4-3 in overtime to eventual national champion Wisconsin in the semifinals.

The Nittany Lions will need their newcomers to fill a large void left by the seven players drafted to the PWHL last month. One of those is the program’s all-time leader in points, Tessa Janecke was taken third overall by PWHL Las Vegas, becoming the highest-drafted player in Penn State women’s hockey history.

McIntosh joins seven other freshmen and two transfers to fill the space left behind. She is one of six new forwards for the Nittany Lions.

The 18-year-old was originally committed to the University of British Columbia.
