Class of 2028 Pitcher Matthew Filiaci Commits To Penn State Baseball

Class of 2028 left-handed pitcher Matthew Filiaci has committed to Penn State baseball, he announced on Instagram Sunday.

Filiaci is the first commit for Mike Gamino’s team in the class of 2028.

Filiaci is a pitcher and first baseman for Seton Hall Prep, hailing from West Orange, New Jersey. In his first season of varsity, Filiaci pitched in seven games, recording 30 strikeouts and a 2.19 ERA.

According to Prep Baseball Report, the New Jersey native throws an 87 mph fastball, an 81 mph changeup, and a curveball and slider in the high 70s.

In the batter’s box, he had a .333 batting average and .548 slugging percentage with eight hits and one RBI.
