Two former Penn State women’s soccer standouts, Ali Krieger and Joanna Lohman, will feature on the new season of “The Amazing Race,” an American reality competition show in which teams of two race around the world.

The new season features 13 teams competing for a $1 million prize and will premiere on CBS on September 30.L

Some familiar faces are joining Season 39 of The Amazing Race

Former Washington Spirit teammates Ali Krieger and Joanna Lohman are trading the soccer pitch for a race across five continents and more than 25,000 miles, competing for a $1 million prize

The show, which is hosted by Phil Keoghan, was filmed from September 22 to October 17, 2025.

Krieger and Lohmna traveled to five continents and nine countries, approximately 25,000 miles, starting in Canada and ending in Honolulu, Hawaii. The show also took stops in Albania, Morocco, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.

Lohman played for the Nittany Lions from 2000 to 2003. Throughout her decorated career, she became the first four-time First Team All-Big Ten selection in Penn State History, and was also named a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist, a first-team NCAA All-American, Pennsylvania’s NCAA Woman of the Year, and the Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient during her time in Happy Valley.

She went on to have an equally successful professional career, starting with the Maryland Pride and making multiple stops before retiring in 2019.

Krieger, who worked on Penn State’s Board of Trustees from 2023 to 2026, played for the blue and white from 2003 to 2006. She led the Nittany Lions to the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively, in her final two years, and received the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Penn State’s Most Valuable Player honors in her senior season for her efforts.

The Nittany Lions had a decorated professional career, like Lohman, and became a mainstay in a USWNT side that won two FIFA Women’s World Cups. She ended her career with 100 caps for the national team.

Lohman and Krieger last teamed up with the Washington Spirit in 2015 and 2016.
