Penn State Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 23 In United Soccer Coaches Poll

Penn State women’s soccer has been ranked No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches poll after a tie with then-No. 2 Notre Dame, 2-2, in the season opener.
Penn State was unranked at the start of the season.
After a lulling first half, the Nittany Lions raced out of the gate in the second, scoring twice in one minute and 19 seconds. Aubrey Kulpa led the way with three points on the day, but Minnesota transfer Paige Kalal also showed out.
Penn State could sniff an early-season upset, but two goals for the Fighting Irish in the 69th and 88th minutes tied the game at two.
Notre Dame started the season in the No. 2 spot, but fell to No. 8 in the latest poll after a tie with both Penn State and Samford. The Bulldogs are not ranked, but received 12 votes in this week’s poll.
Penn State will look to continue rising in the polls when it faces West Virginia at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Folks can follow along on ESPN+.
