Shaquille ‘DJ Diesel’ O’Neal & Between Friends To Headline ‘LightsUP’ Festival August 28

Shaquille “DJ Diesel” O’Neal and Between Friends will headline Penn State’s Student Programming Association and Movin’ On’s sixth annual “LightsUP” festival on Friday, August 28, on HUB Lawn.

Indie pop and alternative sibling duo Between Friends will open up the event at 6:30 p.m. Finishing as quarterfinalists on Season Eight of America’s Got Talent, Brandon and Savannah Hudson broke into the music industry with their EP “we just need some time together” in 2019, which features one of their most popular songs, “affection”.

Most recently, their album “WOW!”, which celebrated its one-year anniversary at the beginning of the month, gained attention for the song “JAM!”. Other songs on their discography include “Bruise”, “Smiley”, and “iloveyou”.

O’Neal, former Los Angeles Lakers center and four-time NBA champion, will take the stage as DJ Diesel, bringing an energetic set to the festival. The 15-time All-Star began his DJ career as a teenager and even released his debut rap album, “Shaq Diesel”, in 1993.

After finding a love for EDM and dubstep, O’Neal debuted as DJ Diesel in 2014 in Las Vegas and has gone on to play at Tomorrowland and Lollapalooza.

O’Neal is known for hits “STFU”, “BANG YOUR HEAD”, and “NO FEAR”.

LightsUP is free to all University Park students.
