Penn State Transportation Services has begun rolling out multiple updates to campus transportation for the fall 2026 semester, according to a news release.

The first of the changes took Innovation Park, Mount Nittany Medical Center, and Centre Medical Sciences off the Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue on August 14. Penn State cited “consistently low ridership” but said the 22 other stops on the route remain.

Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue, which runs every 40 minutes, will now run on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a break in service between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

To make up for the lack of campus shuttles stopping at Mount Nittany Medical Center, CATA will now run a Demand Response Hospital service to the medical center. The service runs from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, using rides scheduled in advance for medical appointments.

You can book up to 14 days in advance, but you must reserve before 5 p.m. the day before your trip.

Students and faculty can also use the new Medical Center Lyft Program to supplement the loss of CATAGO!. The program offers up to four $20 Lyft rides per semester to campus, Mount Nittany Medical Center, and Innovation Park.

The credits can be used between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on all days except home football Saturdays.

The RIDEpass service, which offers faculty, staff, and graduate students reduced-price access to all CATABUS routes, is also eliminating its location-based eligibility requirements to include students living on campus, in downtown locations, or in off-campus apartments.
