Out with the old and in with the new.

It is almost time for the Penn State men’s hockey team to hit the ice for the 2026-27 season. We’re here to introduce the new faces that you may not recognize on the ice this season.

Shea Busch

Shea Busch spent the past two seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) playing for the Everett Silvertips.

The forward scored 24 goals and 13 assists while with the Silvertips. After just his first season in the WHL, the North Vancouver native was drafted 128th overall in 2025 by the Stanley Cup champion, the Florida Panthers.

Kale Dach

Like Busch, Kale Dach was drafted 201st overall in the 2025 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Dach spent last season in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen. There, he scored 75 points, with 34 goals and 41 assists. Prior to the WHL, the forward spent two years in the British Columbia Hockey League.

Ryder Fetterolf

Ryder Fetterolf was drafted 125th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2026 NHL Draft.

The Sewickley, Pennsylvania, native signed with the Ottawa 67’s as an undrafted free agent out of Gilmour Academy and went on to win the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Goaltender of the Year as a rookie, posting a 29-9-3 record with a 2.07 GAA, a .923 save percentage, and six shutouts.

Caeden Herrington

Caeden Herrington was drafted 120th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2025 NHL Draft.

The Manchester, Vermont, native spent his freshman season at Vermont, tallying a goal and seven assists in 34 games before entering the transfer portal this offseason.

Justin Larose

Justin Larose is a forward from Quebec. The Saint-Lazare, Quebec native was a 2020 Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) draft pick of the Victoriaville Tigres and led the league in scoring with Newfoundland’s new team. With the Newfoundland Regiment, Larose scored 32 goals and 56 assists.

Charlie Michaud

Charlie Michaud is a forward from Miami (Ohio) and the Penticton Vees of the WHL.

The Denver, Colorado, native spent six games at Miami before heading to the WHL in December of 2025. After joining Penticton, Michaud recorded 15 assists in 35 regular-season games. Before the WHL and Miami, Penticton spent the 2023-24 season in the USHL with the Madison Capitals.

Marco Mignosa

Marco Mignosa was drafted 215th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2025 NHL Draft.

The Toronto, Ontario, native spent four seasons with the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL, capping his junior career with 89 points on 35 goals and 54 assists in 65 games last season.

Crew Petty

The Gilmour Academy product posted a 2.19 GAA, a .919 save percentage, five shutouts, and a 24-9-0 record in 33 games during the 2025-26 season, adding a perfect 4-0-0 record with a .954 save percentage in four MPHL games.

Petty joins Penn State straight out of prep hockey and will likely slot in as the third-string goalie behind Josh Fleming and Fetterolf.

Kaden Pitre

Kaden Pitre was drafted 181st overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2024 NHL Draft, though the Lightning did not sign him ahead of the June 1 reentry deadline.

The Ontario native spent three full seasons and part of a fourth with the Flint Firebirds, totaling 101 points on 44 goals and 57 assists in 167 games, including a career-high 53-point campaign in 2024-25. He was traded to the North Bay Battalion after the season, where he added 37 points in 37 games.

Justin Poirier

Justin Poirier was drafted 156th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2024 NHL Draft.

The Valleyfield, Quebec, native spent three seasons with Baie-Comeau in the QMJHL, capping his major-junior career with an 80-point season, including 43 goals and 37 assists in 58 games. He played his freshman season at Maine, where he posted 29 points on 18 goals and 11 assists in 27 games.

Ethan Weber

The Manhattan Beach, California, native spent parts of three seasons with the Lincoln Stars in the USHL before playing last season with the Penticton Vees in the WHL, where he tallied 51 points on 14 goals and 37 assists in 68 games.
