Penn State Football Names Team Captains Against Marshall

Penn State football named quarterback Rocco Becht, offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh, linebacker Kooper Ebel, and long snapper Blaise Sokach-Minnick as team captains for the program’s season opener against Marshall, the team announced Saturday morning.
Matt Campbell said the team was “still working through” selecting captains after practice on Wednesday, with finality to the selections set for “a little bit later in the season.” For now, Campbell and Co. are running with team captains for select games as opposed to the entire season.
Penn State will be led by two Iowa State transfers in Becht and Ebel and two returning Penn Staters in Donkoh and Sokach-Minnick. Becht, Ebel, and Donkoh seem like obvious selections, with Campbell and the rest of the coaching staff raving about their leadership all offseason.
Campbell said Tuesday that Sokach-Minnick is one of the guys that has most played the meaningful snaps for the program and that his leadership has vastly improved.
The Nittany Lions kick off their 2026 campaign against Marshall at 3:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium.
